KY House Approves "Neighborhood Schools" Bill

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky House approves a bill that allows for "neighborhood schools" in Jefferson County.

The legislation would permit a student to enroll in the school nearest to their home.   It excludes traditional and magnet schools.

Opponents believe it would widen the achievement gap and hurt homeless and special needs students.

The measure now goes to the Senate.
