Louisville Fires Tom Jurich

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Tom Jurich has been fired as Louisville's athletics director in the wake of the college basketball bribery scandal.

The Board of Trustees voted 10-3 to fire Jurich after 20 years as the school's AD.   It follows the firing of basketball coach Rick Pitino on Monday.

In a statement, Jurich's attorneys say the vote to terminate his contract "was done in haste with inaccurate information."

Jurich shepherded Louisville's entry into the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2014.    He was also responsible for facility upgrades and saw numerous sports thrive under coaches he hired.

Vince Tyra was named acting athletics director earlier this month.
