Medical Marijuana Bill Filed In Kentucky House

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- A bill to legalize medical marijuana in Kentucky has been filed in the House.\

The bill is a product of Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes and her medical marijuana task force and, if passed, would make Kentucky the 30th state in the nation to sign off on medical marijuana.

Co-sponsor Rep. Al Gentry of Louisville has worked with disabled athletes and says they saw a marked improvement in their conditions when they switched from opioids to medical marijuana.

Grimes acknowledges the legislation has its critics and hopes to educate them about the benfits of the drug.

The biggest critic of the bill is Governor Bevin who said before the session started he would not sign any bill that legalized medical marijuana.
