LMPD Asks Residents To Line Streets To Honor Fallen Officer

(Louisville, KY) - The Louisville Metro Police Department wants residents to line the streets Saturday morning to honor Detective Deidre Mengedoht.

The procession will begin at the O.D. White & Sons Funeral Home near the University of Louisville campus at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Mengedoht was killed on Christmas Eve during a traffic stop on Interstate 64 when her cruiser was hit and caught on fire.

The driver of the vehicle that hit Mengedoht, Roger Burdette, is a Metro employee and has been charged with murder.  Burdette says he had been taking multiple prescription drugs the day of the crash.

Mengedoht's funeral will be at Southeast Christian Church on Monday morning.
