(Bowling Green, KY) - A Kentucky jury is awarding Senator Rand Paul more than $580,000 in a dispute with his neighbor.

The Republican was attacked by his neighbor Rene Boucher in November 2017 while he was mowing his lawn. He suffered six broken ribs and three fractures.

There were complications during his recovery, including fluid and blood around the lungs and recurrent pneumonia.

The jury awarded him $375,000 in punitive damages and $200,000 for pain and suffering plus nearly $8,000 in medical expenses.

Boucher pled guilty in March to assaulting a member of Congress. He was sentenced to 30 days in federal prison.
