Former University of Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen has died.

Lorenzen had been hospitalized for nearly a week for what his family said were kidney and heart related health issues along with an infection.

Lorenzen was a record-setting Kentucky quarterback from 2000-2003.

The "Hefty Lefty" threw for 78 touchdown passes during his four-year career with the Wildcats before a brief NFL career that saw him win a Super Bowl with the New York Giants.  Lorenzen battled obesity, playing at more than 300 pounds and his weight ballooned to more than 500 pounds in 2014.

He was 38 years old.
