Louisville Zoo Seeking Private Partner To Manage Facility

(Louisville, KY) - The city's budget crunch has the Louisville Zoo looking for a private management partner. 

The Metro Council Budget Committee talked about partially privatizing the zoo at its meeting Thursday night.

Louisville Zoo director John Walczak said Mayor Greg Fischer's budget, and the budget approved by Metro Council directs the zoo to find an independent group to run the facility. 

Metro Government spends more than $5 million a year on the zoo.
