Churchill Downs Spring Meet Postponed Indefinitely

137th Kentucky Oaks

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- The pandemic has forced the postponement of Churchill Downs' Spring meet.

Churchill Downs had already rescheduled the Kentucky Derby from May 2nd to September 5th. Now, the track is postponing the opening of its Spring Meet, which was originally scheduled for April 25th.

A determination of the exact starting date will be made closer to the opening of the stable areas, which will not reopen until April 28th.

Many of the horses that would be stabled at Churchill Downs this spring are currently residing at tracks in New Orleans, Florida, Arkansas and at Turfway Park in northern Kentucky.
